Headache Pain

Affecting our society socially, emotionally and financially, headache pain has been an age-old problem. It is defined as pain in the head and neck region that maybe either a disorder or a symptom of an underlying, medical condition, a disease or any kind of accidental injury. In medicine, the medical term for a headache is “cephalalgia”. These headaches are one of the most common and universal ailments.

Major types of headaches

The most common types of headaches that many experience in their day to day lives are the “primary headache disorders” such as tension type headaches and migraines. These have some typical and recognizable features. For instance, in migraine one side of the head is affected, along with the feeling of nausea and usually lasts between 3 hours and 3 days.

However, a continuous pain in the head has some of the major types, these are:

  • Musculoskeletal headache
  • Cervical Sympathetic Nerve Syndrome
  • Tension headaches
  • Neuralgic pain syndrome
  • Migraine headache

Headache can be said as a symptom of automobile/ car accident. Because, if you are driving in a state of chronic headache then any car related injury can be expected. Then following an injury headache sometimes clears in minutes and sometimes it persists for months or years or it might also convert into one of a major kind of headache if not treated properly.

Main causes of a headache:

Anything that stimulates the pain receptors in a person’s head or neck can cause a headache including

  • Stress
  • Muscular tension
  • Dental or jaw problems
  • Infections
  • Diet
  • Eye problems
  • Hormonal influences
  • Medications
  • Disorders of ear, nose, throat or of the nervous system
  • Injury to head, neck or spine
  • High blood pressure
  • Dehydration
  • Noise
  • Arthritis
  • Meningitis
